TIMELINE FOR Industrial Hemp
Industrial Hemp Insulation offers significant environmental benefits, but establishing a robust market for this innovative product requires time and investment. The development of a comprehensive supply chain typically takes 3-5 years and necessitates support from both government and industry.
As pioneers in this field, we actively collaborate with legislative leaders and executives to address key market barriers. Our efforts focus on establishing local building codes that incorporate hemp insulation, developing fire safety training programs, and creating essential financing solutions.
By working on these foundational elements and gathering crucial market data, we're laying the groundwork for a thriving, sustainable hemp insulation industry.

HEMPCRETE RETROFIT:
Henry Gage, Jr., Senior Project Manager and Sally Warren, PhD., Research Analyst gutted a Kitchen wall in December of 2019 (first installation). The first picture shows the wall before work started and the second picture shows the wall with Hempcrete. Look for the same wall in the kitchen pictures to see how we finished the wall with a lime based paint (breathable).
After receiving training, we proceeded to gut all perimeter walls and installed Hempcrete as a Green New Deal insulating material. The retrofit included electrical upgrades (100A to 200A service), plumbing, Restoration of doors, reclamation of old wood for use during finish carpentry and yard work. Our approach included deep recycle where we attempted to reuse as much as possible. The front yard is basically a food source and provided an abundance of greens during the summer and fall. Learning to grow food is the beginning of sustainable living.
This is the first retrofit of this type on the East Coast and a prototype of a community based model where cities are invited to work with the community to restore abandoned properties. This project demonstrates how a property can be restored without the need for city funding and independent of credit score. Because Build Green Now, LLC ownes each property we can choose who to sell to. Our mission is providing housing to the community, starting with community leaders.
We are editing the site this month and will provide an information and training schedule. Once it is confirmed the details will appear on this site. Please allow about 2 weeks. We are working through refinancing details.

On April 22, 2019, New York City demonstrated bold leadership in announcing “NYC's Green New Deal”
“New York City is not only taking steps to adhere to the Paris Climate pact, it is frontloading the most significant greenhouse gas reductions for the coming decade, before it's too late.” - https://onenyc.cityofnewyork.us/
In a spirit of collaboration we have decided that now is the time to take action. Today is the day we accelerate making a difference as we lengthen our strides toward a sustainable economy. Like many others, I left a good job in the city to go all in for the next generation and for all the innocent life the we are harming on a daily basis.
A primary goal of this site is to inspire mutually beneficial collaboration and information sharing to speed adoption of a sustainable lifestyle. Here are a few guiding rules:
1. Spend 80% of eco conversations on solutions and limits restating problems to 20%
2. If necessary, build your own team and trust that you can make a difference.
3. Seek mutually beneficial solutions and use this language to collaborate.
As we build this site we will add active projects so you can efficiently start a project or join an existing project.
